A stadium that beats once again as it reinvents itself, stand by stand

Coming home
After more than two years of construction, FC Barcelona returned to its stadium on 22 November 2025, hosting Athletic Club in the first league match at the renovated Camp Nou, with a 4-0 victory. The project, designed by the Japanese architecture firm Nikken Sekkei, will reach a capacity of around 105,000 fans, making it the largest stadium in Europe.
Work continues at a good pace. The club has begun installing seats in the third tier, a key phase, and expects to increase capacity to 70,000 or 72,000 spectators during the first months of 2027. Attending a match today means, in a way, witnessing a unique moment: that of a stadium growing season after season.
A museum to experience Barça history
While the new venue is being completed, the club museum has a home of its own: the Barça Immersive Tour. It occupies a spectacular 2,400 m² space designed to immerse visitors in the spirit of Barça, featuring the trophy room, a journey through the history of all the club’s teams, an area dedicated to Messi with his Ballon d’Or and Golden Boot awards, and a 360° immersive room.

An autumn of great nights
The season is packed with memorable fixtures. The first Clásico will be played in Barcelona: it is scheduled for the weekend of 24 and 25 October, when Real Madrid visit the Blaugrana stadium. In the Champions League, the Camp Nou will host Aston Villa on Tuesday 3 November at 9 pm, followed by Manchester City on 8 December. Barcelona aims for the 2030 World Cup final
The horizon is even more ambitious. Spain, Portugal and Morocco will host the centenary World Cup, with a proposed schedule from 13 June to 21 July 2030, and Barcelona is among the host cities. The big question remains open: the Santiago Bernabéu, the Spotify Camp Nou and the future Grand Stade Hassan II in Casablanca are the official candidates for the final, and FIFA has yet to choose the venue. Barcelona’s case is clear: the Camp Nou can offer more tickets, greater revenue and an image recognised all over the world. Meanwhile, the city is full of hope.
More than a club, more than a stadium
To understand what the Camp Nou means to Barcelona, it helps to look back. The club was founded on 29 November 1899, driven by Joan Gamper, and for decades played at the Les Corts ground, until its supporters outgrew the stands. The Camp Nou was inaugurated on this very day, 24 September 1957, coinciding with the feast of La Mercè, the city’s patron saint: a gesture that already foretold how closely the stadium and Barcelona would share a common destiny.
