The 22nd edition of the leading MICE trade show returns to the city under the theme “The Age of Disruption”

Fira Barcelona Gran Via will welcome more than 12,000 industry professionals and over 2,500 exhibitors — including destinations, hotels, technology providers, and agencies — from more than 150 countries. A figure that confirms, once again, why Barcelona has established itself as one of Europe’s leading capitals for business tourism.

An edition shaped by disruption
The 2026 edition is built around a theme that captures the industry’s current moment well: “The Age of Disruption.” The programme will address the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, increasingly tight budgets, and the growing demands from attendees to measure the real return on every event.
Among this edition’s highlights is AI for Events – Demo Day LIVE, a space showcasing live demonstrations of how artificial intelligence is already transforming agenda creation, sponsorship proposals, and real-time performance analysis. IBTM Ignite also returns, the showcase dedicated to emerging startups reinventing the way events are planned and measured.
It’s a fascinating snapshot of where the industry is heading: more data, more automation, more demand for results. And precisely because of that, it’s also a moment when the value of genuine human connection — a warm welcome, personal attention, a direct look in the eye — becomes more visible, and necessary, than ever.
Barcelona, a host city by vocation
IBTM World’s choice of Barcelona is no coincidence. The city has the institutional backing of Turisme de Barcelona, the Ajuntament de Barcelona, the Gremi d’Hotels de Barcelona, and the Catalunya Convention Bureau, among other local partners who year after year help welcome tens of thousands of professional visitors.
Fira Barcelona Gran Via is very well connected to our hotels in the city centre: metro line 9 links the venue directly to Plaça Espanya and, from there, to the rest of the city. In just over twenty minutes, anyone attending the show can go from a meeting room to the Hotel Continental Barcelona or Continental Palacete to rest, enjoy the hotel’s complimentary 24-hour buffet, or take a stroll through the historic heart of Barcelona.
The other side of business travel
Those travelling for work to a show like IBTM World tend to have their schedules planned down to the minute: pre-arranged meetings, talks, networking events. But they also know that where they stay makes the difference between just another business trip and an experience worth remembering.
At the Hotel Continental Barcelona, right on La Rambla next to Plaça Catalunya, and at the Hotel Continental Palacete, on the elegant Rambla de Catalunya, we have been welcoming travellers from around the world for eight generations. We know that after an intense day at the show, what’s most appreciated isn’t just a great location, but truly feeling welcomed. That’s why we combine closeness to the historic centre with a warm, family-run atmosphere. Hospitality has always been our vocation.
For those attending IBTM World this November, staying in the city centre also means making the most of the trip beyond the exhibition halls: a welcome glass of cava on arrival, breakfast with views over La Rambla, or simply the chance to end the day with a walk down Passeig de Gràcia or along La Rambla before returning to the next day’s agenda.
If your company is attending IBTM World 2026 and you’re looking for accommodation with real character in the centre of Barcelona, we would be delighted to welcome you.
