A historic date at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, just half an hour from the hotel
Barcelona adds a new chapter to its relationship with motorsport. After stops in Imola, Spa, Le Mans, São Paulo, Austin and Fuji, the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) arrives for the first time in its history at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The race will take place from 16 to 18 October 2026, in a penultimate round of the season that could prove decisive for the world titles.
A world-class lineup
The Hypercar and LMGT3 categories will bring together 14 manufacturers competing for victory: Alpine, Aston Martin, BMW, Cadillac, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Genesis, Lexus, McLaren, Mercedes, Peugeot, Porsche and Toyota. Three days of free practice, qualifying and Sunday’s main race will turn the Montmeló track into a showcase for the finest automotive engineering on the planet, with performance, strategy and traffic management on track as the keys to victory.
A circuit with a history of its own
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, opened in 1991, is one of the most beloved tracks on the international calendar. It hosts the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix and the Catalan MotoGP Grand Prix every year, and since 2019 has been a regular venue for the European Le Mans Series and the Michelin Le Mans Cup, the perfect prelude to this WEC debut. With a length of 4,657 metres and 14 corners, 6 left and 8 right, its technical and demanding layout has seen motorsport legends race for more than three decades.
How to get to the Circuit de Catalunya
The circuit is located in Montmeló, around 32 kilometres from Barcelona, with several access options:
- By train: Rodalies Renfe, line R2, with a direct stop at Montmeló station. From there, the circuit is about 20-30 minutes on foot, or visitors can take the shuttle bus running on event days.
- By bus: Sagalés operates direct lines from Barcelona’s Estación del Norte to the circuit on competition days.
- By car: via the C-17 (Montmeló exit) or the AP-7 (exits 13, 14 and 15).
- From Barcelona-El Prat Airport: the R2 Nord line connects directly to Montmeló in around 30 minutes.
