This Sunday, March 16th, Barcelona becomes the epicenter of sports with the celebration of the 47th edition of the Zurich Barcelona Marathon, featuring a record-breaking number of registered athletes: 27,000 runners.
Since its inception in 1978, this marathon has become one of the city’s most emblematic sporting events, attracting elite runners and enthusiasts from around the world.

From its first winner, Kenyan Joseph Kiprono, to current record holders like Zeinaba Yimer and Abraham Tadesse, each edition has left an indelible mark on Barcelona’s sports history.

The Zurich Barcelona Marathon 2025 will start promptly at 8:30 AM from the iconic Passeig de Gràcia. The 42.195-kilometer route will take runners through Barcelona’s most representative streets and avenues, including the Sagrada Familia, Torre de Glòries, and Parc de la Ciutadella, among other iconic points.

Schedule and mobility
Please note that the race is expected to extend until approximately 3:00 PM, according to the organization’s forecasts. Due to the event, there will be disruptions to public transportation and some main roads will be closed during the marathon. We recommend planning alternative routes in advance to minimize inconvenience.
