A pocos pasos del Hotel Continental Palacete<\/strong>, en pleno Passeig de Gr\u00e0cia, se levanta una joya del modernismo catal\u00e1n que quiz\u00e1 no sea tan famosa como la vecina Casa Batll\u00f3, pero que guarda un encanto especial y aut\u00e9ntico: la Casa Amatller<\/strong>.<\/a> Su historia mezcla la tradici\u00f3n chocolatera de una familia emprendedora con la visi\u00f3n art\u00edstica de uno de los grandes arquitectos del modernismo, Josep Puig i Cadafalch<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Una familia de chocolate<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Antoni Amatller, heredero de tres generaciones dedicadas al chocolate, fue mucho m\u00e1s que un empresario. Viaj\u00f3 por Europa, introdujo innovaciones industriales y convirti\u00f3 su f\u00e1brica en una de las m\u00e1s pr\u00f3speras del siglo XIX en Espa\u00f1a. Su pasi\u00f3n no solo estaba en el negocio, sino tambi\u00e9n en el arte: supo rodearse de ilustradores como Alfons Mucha para dar vida a envoltorios y cromos que hoy son aut\u00e9nticas piezas de colecci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El arquitecto y la \u201cManzana de la Discordia\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Para transformar su casa en el Eixample, Antoni confi\u00f3 en Puig i Cadafalch<\/strong>, figura clave del modernismo junto con Gaud\u00ed y Dom\u00e8nech i Montaner. As\u00ed naci\u00f3 la Casa Amatller, en pleno Passeig de Gr\u00e0cia, dentro de la famosa \u201cManzana de la Discordia<\/strong>\u201d. Este nombre se debe a la rivalidad entre varios arquitectos modernistas, cuyas obras quedaron lado a lado en la misma manzana: la Casa Batll\u00f3 de Gaud\u00ed, la Casa Lle\u00f3 i Morera de Dom\u00e8nech i Montaner y la Casa Amatller de Puig i Cadafalch. La comparaci\u00f3n inevitable entre sus estilos hizo que el p\u00fablico la bautizara con ese nombre tan singular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
