El m\u00e1s famoso atraco a un banco de la historia de Espa\u00f1a <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Como uno de los hoteles m\u00e1s emblem\u00e1ticos e hist\u00f3ricos de Barcelona, en Hotel Continental nos apasiona la historia y la cultura de nuestra vibrante y querida ciudad. Y, en este sentido, hoy queremos hablarles sobre uno de los sucesos m\u00e1s destacados de la Barcelona de los a\u00f1os 80: el atraco al Banco Central el s\u00e1bado 23 de mayo de 1981, justo tres meses despu\u00e9s del intento fallidodel golpe de estado.<\/p>\n

La sede del Banco Central hab\u00eda sido el Hotel Continental a principios del Siglo XX <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Este famoso robo, llevado a cabo por un grupo de delincuentes altamente organizados, ha sido considerado uno de los m\u00e1s espectaculares de la historia de Espa\u00f1a. El Banco Central era una de las instituciones financieras m\u00e1s importantes del pa\u00eds en aquel entonces, y se encontraba en pleno coraz\u00f3n de la ciudad, en un edificio que a principios del siglo XX hab\u00eda sido ocupado por el actual Hotel Continental.<\/p>\n

Un resumen de los principales hechos <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Una decena de atracadores penetraron en el banco un s\u00e1bado por la ma\u00f1ana reteniendo a todos los trabajadores y clientes que all\u00ed se encontraban. El atraco en si ten\u00eda dos objetivos, por un lado, el meramente pecuniario, unos 600 millones de pesetas y, por otro, el rescatar para sus intereses unos documentos que compromet\u00edan toda la historia de lo que hab\u00eda sucedido en Madrid tres meses atr\u00e1s y que pod\u00eda haber hecho temblar la democracia espa\u00f1ola: el golpe de estado de 1981. El atraco al banco se torci\u00f3 para los delincuentes que, como consecuencia de los nervios provocados al perder a uno de los suyos por un tiro de un francotirador de la polic\u00eda, acabaron saliendo por la puerta. Eso s\u00ed, antes de salir obligaron a intercambiar sus ropas con las de los empleados o clientes para confundir a la polic\u00eda a su salida.<\/p>\n

El suceso vivido desde el Hotel Continental <\/strong><\/h2>\n

El hotel Continental que se encuentra justo al lado del Banco, estuvo sitiado y los hu\u00e9spedes y trabajadores del hotel no pod\u00edan ni entrar ni salir. Teresa, la recepcionista, estuvo trabajando ese s\u00e1bado por la ma\u00f1ana y no pudo salir del hotel hasta que el banco fue liberado.<\/p>\n

Cuando se produjo el desenlace, trabajadores clientes y delincuentes salieron corriendo por las puertas del banco y la polic\u00eda les obligaba a tirarse al suelo. 5 hombres se arriesgaron y decidieron correr Ramblas abajo y se metieron el primer portal que pudieron, es decir el hotel Continental. Llegaron a recepci\u00f3n y le dijeron muy nerviosos a Teresa que eran trabajadores del banco y que acababan de escapar y si pod\u00edan tener un ba\u00f1o para asearse. Ella, muy solicita asinti\u00f3 y les mostr\u00f3 el ba\u00f1o de cortes\u00eda y, como eran 5, les abri\u00f3 una habitaci\u00f3n cercana. Mientras suced\u00eda todo esto, uno de los hombres desapareci\u00f3 y se encondi\u00f3 por los pasillos del hotel. Mientras los cuatro hombres estaban en el ba\u00f1o. Muy perspicaz, Teresa llam\u00f3 a la polic\u00eda informando de que hab\u00edan entrado unos hombres procedentes del banco. La polic\u00eda se person\u00f3 y se los llevo\u2026 a todos menos al que se hab\u00eda escondido.<\/p>\n

En la noche del domingo, las cosas ya volvieron m\u00e1s o menos a la normalidad. Y nuestro Padre Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Malagarriga Miralbell pudo ir al hotel a ver c\u00f3mo estaba Teresa y as\u00ed \u00e9sta tambi\u00e9n pudo irse a su casa, despu\u00e9s del susto y la situaci\u00f3n vivida.<\/p>\n

Pilar Vallet, esposa de Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda y nuestra madre, es tambi\u00e9n protagonista viva de esta historia. Cuando el lunes a primera hora fue al hotel a trabajar, al desmontar una habitaci\u00f3n para hacer unos trabajos de costura encontr\u00f3 debajo del colch\u00f3n 300.000 pesetas y un cargador de pistola.\u00a0 Esta cantidad era la mitad de lo que consiguieron sustraer los atracadores del banco: 600.000 pesetas (3.600 euros aprox.).\u00a0 Estas 300.000 pesetas fue todo el bot\u00edn que se recuper\u00f3 del atraco: Nuestra madre, como buena persona, no dudo en llamar a la polic\u00eda para que lo vinieran a buscar.<\/p>\n

Ese mismo lunes, un poco m\u00e1s tarde, inspeccionando mi madre los pasillos del hotel, de repente, en un peque\u00f1o cuarto de aspiradores le apareci\u00f3 un hombre. Sorprendidos los dos se quedaron parados, \u00e9l le profiri\u00f3 un \u201cpor nuestros hijos\u201d y se fue corriendo: ese, fue el \u00fanico atracador que jam\u00e1s fue juzgado por el delito. Huyo a Francia y no regres\u00f3\u2026<\/p>\n

Y ahora\u2026 <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Hoy en d\u00eda, el edificio donde se encontraba el Banco Central se ha convertido en una enorme tienda de ropa. Adem\u00e1s, en la ciudad de Barcelona todav\u00eda se pueden encontrar referencias a este famoso robo, como la pel\u00edcula de los hechos de t\u00edtulo Atraco al Banco Central (1983) o la pel\u00edcula \u00abEl Lobo\u00bb (2004) que recrea la historia de uno de los ladrones que particip\u00f3 en el atraco.<\/p>\n

En definitiva, el atraco al Banco Central de Barcelona en 1981 es una historia fascinante que forma parte de la historia de esta maravillosa ciudad.<\/p>\n
