La Festa de Sant Medir<\/a><\/em> is an annual festival every 3 March<\/strong> in Vila de Gracia, district of Barcelona. It is fondly known as the \u00abLa festa m\u00e9s dol\u00e7a\u00bb – \u00abthe Sweetest Festival\u00bb because of the 100 tons of sweets that are given away every year during the colorful Sant Medir parade. There are various activities, but the biggest event is the evening parade through Gracia. The parade groups (colles) gather on various streets, then join the procession of horses, carts and lorries down Gran de Gracia to the \u00abJardinets de Gracia\u00bb. This is the open area between at the top end of Passeig de Gr\u00e1cia after Av Diagonal and before Gran de Gracia starts. The evening finishes with a fireworks display.<\/p>\n

The legend of the.Festa de Sant Medir is about a farmer who became a Catholic Saint in Roman times during the persecution of Christians. The modern day festival started in 1830 when a baker called Josep Vidal i Gran\u00e9s, who lived in the newly opened street Gran de Gracia. He fell very ill one year and vowed that God would cure him, he would make a annual pilgrimage to the hermitage of his patron saint, Sant Medir.<\/p>\n

Es cari\u00f1osamente conocido como \u00abLa festa m\u00e9s dol\u00e7a\u00bb, porque se regalan 100 toneladas de dulces cada a\u00f1o durante el desfile de Sant Medir de colores. Hay varias actividades, pero el evento m\u00e1s importante es el desfile de la noche por Gracia. Los grupos del desfile (colles) se re\u00fanen en varias calles, y luego se unen a la procesi\u00f3n de caballos, carros y camiones por la Gran de Gracia a los \u00abJardinets de Gracia\u00bb – \u00abpeque\u00f1os jardines de Gracia. \u00bb La noche termina con un espect\u00e1culo de fuegos artificiales.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
