This is part of the message that one of the members of the group from India sent us. 23 crew members who have been staying at our Hotel Continental Palacete for 71 days, coinciding with the confinement and closing of borders due to Covid19.
“I miss you and sorry if at any time we did not behave well or broke some hotel rules. But from the bottom of my heart, I am very happy to feel like part of the family of the Hotel Continental Palacete. A sincere thanks from the 23 Indians wishing you the best”.
And this is how, after 71 nights in our Hotel, this group from India became part of our family forever.
Officially recognized as “Longest Stay World Record”
This is how José Maria Malagarriga, Director and Owner of the Hotel Continental, said goodbye in his letter of thanks addressed to each one of the lords of the group from India. We include it here to share it with you.
“Our vocation has remained intact during this difficult time of confinement. The responsibility of being a hotel on duty during the pandemic has not been easy, we have had to take extreme measures to ensure the protection of the team and our guests, and we have remained faithful to our commitment to service and customer service to make you feel comfortable and safe at this stage of confinement. We have offered accommodation to all those who necessarily needed to stay in Barcelona and we have done so with the social commitment that has always characterized us and offering accommodation at prices below its cost. It is something that runs in the family: we are hoteliers. We are moved by the vocation of service and unconditional dedication to our clientele”, José María Malagarriga would like to highlight here these ideas.

They left last morning on Sunday, May 31. A bus waving the Indian flag came to pick them up at 4 in the morning to take them to the Madrid airport and from there, heading to Mumbai: their long-awaited home.
It has been an honour and a blessing to have been able to offer you our hotel during this hard time of confinement. We have felt accompanied and safe thanks to their responsible and polite behaviour. Guests and an unprecedented history for Hotel Continental in our 200 years of family tradition.

So Sunday ended this story that has brought us closer to a distant country: India. A wonderful country with endless colors, traditions, smells, cultures… a great wealth. We have had the privilege of sharing and enjoying a little bit of it thanks to this Indian group. It is wonderful to discover how humanity unites, recognizes and appreciates itself in times of difficulty.
We also would like to thank all, specially our team: receptionists, maids, maintenance, the catering company Gram Facility Services, and the neighbourhood police in the Eixample district for having been aware of us and our guests. To all, thank you very much for making it easy and giving all to make all perfect.

“Desde el fondo de mi corazón, estoy muy feliz de sentirme parte de la familia del Hotel Continental Palacete “
Este es parte del mensaje que nos envió uno de los miembros del grupo de la India. 23 tripulantes que han estado hospedados en nuestro Hotel Continental Palacete durante 71 días coincidiendo con el confinamiento y cierre de fronteras a causa de la Covid19.
“Les echo de menos y lamento si en algún momento no nos comportamos bien o rompimos algunas reglas del hotel. Pero desde el fondo de mi corazón, estoy muy feliz de sentirme como de la familia del Hotel Continental Palacete. Un sincero agradecimiento de los 23 indios que les desean lo mejor.”
Y así es como, tras 71 noches en nuestro Hotel, este grupo de la India se convirtió para siempre en parte de nuestra familia.
Oficialmente reconocidos como “Nuestro Record Mundial de Larga Estancia”
Así es como se despedía José Maria Malagarriga, Director y Propietario del Hotel Continental en su carta de agradecimiento dirigida a cada uno de los señores del grupo de la India. La incluimos aquí para compartirla contigo y para el recuerdo.
“Nuestra vocación ha permanecido intacta durante este tiempo difícil de confinamiento. La responsabilidad de ser un hotel de guardia durante la pandemia no ha sido fácil, hemos tenido que extremar las medidas para asegurar la protección del equipo y de nuestros huéspedes y hemos seguido siendo fieles a nuestro compromiso con el servicio y la atención a la clientela para que se sintiera lo mejor posible en esta etapa de confinamiento. Hemos ofrecido alojamiento a todas aquellas personas que necesitaban forzosamente permanecer en Barcelona y lo hemos hecho con el compromiso social que nos ha caracterizado siempre, ofreciendo alojamiento a precios muy por debajo de su coste. Es algo que nos viene de familia: somos hoteleros. Nos mueve la vocación de servicio y la entrega incondicional a nuestra clientela”, así ha querido destacar aquí José María Malagarriga.

Se marcharon la pasada madrugada del domingo 31 de mayo. Un autocar ondeando la bandera india les vino a recoger a las 4 de la mañana para llevarles al aeropuerto de Madrid y de ahí, rumbo Mumbai: su ansiado hogar.
Ha sido un honor y una bendición haber podido ofrecerles nuestro hotel durante esta dura época de confinamiento. Nos hemos sentido acompañados y seguros gracias a su comportamiento responsable y educado. Unos huéspedes y una historia sin precedentes para el Hotel Continental en nuestros ya 200 años de tradición familiar.

Así el domingo terminó esta historia que nos ha acercado a un país lejano: la India. Un crisol de colores, tradiciones, olores, culturas… de una riqueza brutal. Hemos tenido el privilegio de compartir y disfrutar un poquito de ello gracias a este grupo indio. Es la maravilla de descubrir como la humanidad se une, se reconoce y agradece en tiempos de dificultad.
También queremos dar gracias desde aquí a todo nuestro equipo: recepcionistas, camareras, mantenimiento, la empresa de catering Gram Facility Services y la policía de barrio del distrito de l’Eixample por haber estado pendientes de nosotros y de nuestro alojados. A todos, muchísimas gracias por haberlo puesto fácil y haberlo dado todo para que todo saliera perfecto.
