April 2: World Day of Autism Awareness
Today April 2 is the International Day to focus on people who suffer from some type of autism and those who accompany them. A day to raise awareness about this disorder that in Spain suffer more than 450,000 people.
As a symbolic gesture, “Iluminarse de azul” is an international awareness campaign “Light It Up Blue” (LIUB), promoted by Autism Speaks and joined by the associative movement of autism in Spain.
It is for this reason that today, numerous emblematic buildings and monuments of Barcelona and the world, also the Hotel Continental Palacete, are illuminated in blue. A symbolic gesture that aims to remember and expand the voices to show solidarity and support the group of people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families.
In Spain this initiative is possible thanks to the Autism Confederation Spain, a non-profit organization that represents and groups entities of the Third Sector of social action promoted by relatives of people with ASD. Its task is to provide specific and specialized supports and services to people with this disorder and their families. It also works to promote quality of life and equal opportunities for people with ASD. The objective is to achieve its inclusion in all areas of society.
From Hotel Continental we join the campaign with the aim of contributing to its objectives and demonstrate our commitment to inclusion and support for people with autism in society.
A small gesture that becomes great when we are together.

2 de Abril: Día Mundial de la Concienciación sobre el Autismo
Hoy día 2 de abril es el Día Internacional centramos la mirada en las personas que padecen algún tipo de autismo y a los que les acompañan. Una jornada para la concienciación sobre este trastorno que en España padecen más de 450.000 personas.
Como gesto simbólico, “Iluminarse de azul”, es una campaña de sensibilización internacional Light It Up Blue (LIUB), promovida por Autism Speaks y a la que se ha sumado el movimiento asociativo del autismo en España.
Es por este motivo que hoy, numerosos edificios y monumentos emblemáticos de Barcelona y del mundo, también el Hotel Continental Palacete, se iluminan de azul. Un gesto simbólico que pretende recordar y ampliar las voces para solidarizarse y apoyar al colectivo de personas con trastorno del espectro del autismo (TEA) y sus familias.
En España esta iniciativa es posible gracias a la Confederación Autismo España, una organización sin ánimo de lucro que representa y agrupa a entidades del Tercer Sector de acción social promovidas por familiares de personas con TEA. Su labor es facilitar apoyos y servicios específicos y especializados a las personas con este trastorno y a sus familias. Trabaja también para promover la calidad de vida y la igualdad de oportunidades de las personas con TEA. El objetivo es conseguir su inclusión en todos los ámbitos de la sociedad.
Desde Hotel Continental nos unimos a la campaña con el objetivo de contribuir a sus objetivos y demostrar nuestro compromiso por la inclusión y el apoyo a las personas con autismo en la sociedad.
